This is what my husband saw today as he took a walk along the Potomac River ~
How cool is that?!

Walking the Dog
I took Glee for a walk today. It's been much too long since we've gone on one, with me working in the mornings now. Was she ever a happy gal! She even wandered into the river, but not deep enough to go swimming - it was after all, like, 30 degrees out! She's not a complete doof. She was a bit more subdued than usual; I'm not sure if it was because of her harness (she does know she's supposed to not be a goober while wearing it) or if, like me, she is just feeling fat and old. I guess we both needs lots of walking.

Movies and Moving
Well, the movie was fine. Cute, entertaining; nothing to write home about. As the Girl put it, "it's not a 'buy' movie, mom." (Y'know, to add to the video collection.)
About moving.... we - my little family of three - is getting ready to move... from Idaho to Virginia. In fact, my husband is already there, with a new job. Which is great, since he'd been out of work for months. A job is good. But, it's lonely here without him. And I have a boat-load of work to do to get myself and the Girl moved out there alongside him! (How did he manage to leave and get out of all the work? Pretty sneaky....)
Today, the cat 'helped'.... 'cause it's what he does.
I have soooo much work to do! But as you can see, it has begun. That paper is freakin' expensive.... I need to find a new source. But, the china hutch is empty now.... and the coat closet - it looks fabulous! Check it out....
You might not believe this, but earlier today, not only could you not see the floor in there, you could barely shove the door closed. That shelf was were we hucked stuff and hoped it didn't fall before you got the door shut. The two green baskets - one on the floor, one on the shelf - those now hold everything that was once all over the bottom of the closet. Nothing even got taken out! Organization rocks! The top basket is gloves, mittens, and winter hats....the bottom one is tennis rackets, baseball gloves, baseballs, frisbies, badminton rackets and birdies, rollerblading safety gear, snowboarding helmet and goggles, and a few sundry items... honestly, I can't believe it's all in that little crate! It proves what I've told my husband all along - get me enough cute little storage containers, and our house will never be messy again!! Ha!

Mom & Me Movie Night
Well, the Girl and I are running out to the dollar theatre to see a movie tonight (okay, it actually costs $2.00 a person now - what's up with that??) Looks like we'll be seeing Madagasc*r 2 - I'll let you know how it is! More when we get back.....

Too much thinking, not enough working, I guess
I sort of started this blog to chronicle my move from the West to the East.... altho, I haven't really written much about that, yet. Right now I'm in too much of a panic mode; trying to get the house tidied enough to be listed for sale and all that entails. The house of a "messy", that's a reason to panic. For some reason I keep being told "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Which is supposed to encourage me, I know. But this morning, in a bout of tears, I was thinking this..... "Well, somewhere along the line, you get full. You have to stop eating, at least for awhile. Eventually, the elephant starts getting stinky. Then starts to rot. You can never, ever eat a whole elephant. So - there really are some jobs that are not humanly possible." Cleaning my home may be one of them.

I've been tagged! 5th folder, 5th photo
Cool! My first tag on blogger! So, here's the deal.... I am supposed to open a file, open the fifth folder in it, then the fifth picture within that, post the pic and describe it. So, here you go....
I homeschool my daughter. Last year, 4th grade, we studied our State History and part of that was the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This photo was taken during a field trip to the History Museum.
I am also supposed to tag 5 other people - but, being new here, I really don't know how to include a link to a name in this post - a little help, anyone?

Presidential broo-ha-ha
I, for one, will just be glad when tomorrow is over. I am thrilled about the apparent step in the right direction the US has taken - a big step away from racism. That part is awesome. But as for our new president? Who some would like to worship?? Why is it the media seems to think this man can do no wrong? For instance: This is a small thing, but a good example. There is a huge push in America today to ban smoking. Stuff all over says how bad it is. Not once - not once! - during the campaigning did I see a picture of this man with a cigarette. Why?? Because it would have tarnished his "oh so perfect a man" image? Would any of us have really cared? Are we Americans so dumb we are taken in by a smooth talker?? Are we all about "change", even if it's bad? I don't get it, at all.

Every now and then...
...I surprise even myself. My nephew and his fiance wanted to come by today and pick up some furniture and stuff that I am getting rid of. (This move has been a good reason to do some household purging!) The problem is the mess my home is in. And I was out all day, running errands (that should've only taken a few hours, but such is the crazy which is my life.) As I was heading home - finally - I was thinking how they wouldn't even be able to get in the front door, much less take out any furniture. I am so not exaggerating - I wish I was. Well, I just started in the minute I walked into the house, and they didn't come for about 45 minutes.... my nephew came in and said "it doesn't look so bad in here" (so my sister must have told him I was in a panic about it!) I just laughed and told him that's because I'd been cleaning since she called!! Bummer thing is that they had to go upstairs, which is my daughter's domain ..... I gave them an antique armoire to put their TV in, Little Gal's been using it as a Barbie house.... and her space is Complete Chaos. The redeeming thing in all this is that my sister (nephew's mom) is just like me. Artsy-fartsy, mega-messy. So they weren't shocked.

When bad dreams come true
You ever have one of those dreams where you are out in public and you aren't, umm, dressed?? Today my mom came over and walked all around my house, writing up a list for me of stuff I need to get done if I ever want to put this house on the market to sell. (I asked her to do this, she wasn't being pushy or something!!) It was so embarrassing. I mean, I know my mother loves me, but she must be truly disappointed to learn she raised a child completely incapable of being a decent housekeeper. I mean, you don't really know how bad it is here. I thought I could get more done during that "flight of the bumblebee" moment between when she called to say she was coming and when she actually showed up. I felt as humiliated, as exposed, as if I'd had to walk thru the mall completely butt-naked.
Tomorrow, it begins!
What begins? My frantic rush to get this house on the market and get it sold. No great chances of that happening, but hey, since the Big Guy already moved back East, I really have to hold out hope that I can move one day as well! Why tomorrow? My mom is coming over to crack the whip. Somebody has to do it... too much ADD going on in my brain.

Aaaaargh
No, I'm not trying out my pirate voice - I'm just tired and feeling very overwhelmed. I'm still trying the crazy plan of "too much needs doing, so I'll just watch a movie" idea. It's not working very well. The house is still complete chaos. Huh. Who knew.

One job down, a thousand or more to go
So! I have two Christmas trees undecorated and waiting out on the curb for the trashmen ~ yay, me!! I'm finally on my way to getting this house ready to sell.... okay, very slowly on my way! But at least I'm putting one foot ahead of the other.

So many shades of wrong
So, my husband is out of town. We all miss him, of course... but the cat seems particularly mopey. Or, he's ripping around the house like something's chasing him.... and it's not the dog. (I keep trying to get the dog to chase him, but no go.) Tonite, the Big Guy calls me, and I tell him the cat misses him. (Why this is the case I don't know - the Little Gal and I do all the caring for the stinky cat, but he loves the Big Guy) My hubby says "put him on the phone." (wrong shade #1.) So, I do (#2) On hearing BG's voice, the cat, who's been laying down, sits bolt upright and starts rubbing his head on the phone. OH!! ARE YOU SERIOUS??!
and so it begins!
Hello! I've been blogging over on Spaces Live for about 3 years now, and the changes they make just seem to make it worse - so, I've finally decided to defect and come over to Blogger, which seems to be one of the better blogging sites that I've found. I hope bunches of you find me and start following me on this crazy journey we call life!
